今日の会話は、「京阪電車から阪急電車への乗り換え」についてです。

Masako：何かお探しですか？

              Hi, can I help you?

Alan：はい。阪急で梅田へ行きたいのですが、どこから乗ればいいのでしょうか？

              Yes, thank you. I want to go to Umeda via Hankyu. How can I get there?

Masako：なるほど。ここは、京阪「Gion-Shijo」です。

              阪急線とは駅が繋がっていないので、一度、地上に出て移動が必要です。

              I see. This is Keihan "Gion-Shijo". You need to go up to the ground level,

              because you can’t connect with the Hankyu line from here.

              この階段を上がれば、四条川端の交差点です。そして、左へ進んでください。

              If you go up these steps, you will be at the intersection of Shijo Kawabata.

              Then, please go left.

              目の前の橋を渡り一つ目の信号を渡れば、左に地下へ降りる階段があります。

              Go over the bridge in front of you and cross at the first traffic light you see.

              There will be steps to your left that go down to the subways.

              その階段を降りれば、阪急線の駅です。

              If you go down those steps, you will be at the Hankyu Line station.

Alan：ありがとう！あ、大きな荷物があるのですが、エレベーターはありますか？

              Thank you very much for your advice.

              Oh, I have large luggage. Is there an elevator?

Masako：それなら、もう一つ先の大きな交差点まで進んでください。

              左の角にデパートがあります。

              デパートのエレベーターで地階へ行けます。

              Sure, if you go to the next big intersection.

              You will find a department store on the left corner.

              You can get to the basement level using their elevators.

Alan：ありがとう。行ってみます！

              Thank you. I'll give it a try!

ポイント☝

＊ground level・・・groundだけだと地面となるので、地上を指す時はground levelと表現するそうです。basement levelも同様。

＊余談ですが、日本語で「お手洗い」というと、家でも公共の場でも同じように使いますが、英語では、家（自宅など）のお手洗いは「Bathroom」と言います。それに対し、公共の場でのお手洗いは「Restroom」と表現するそうです。
